Sydney Hit by Flash Flood and Tornado
Twister was reported by the residents of Bronte and Maroubra, Sydney’s eastern suburb. Twister tore the roof off a garage in MacPherson Street, Bronte. Most of the damaged area was within 1km inland of Maroubra. State Emergency Services (SES) said about 11 homes in the eastern suburbs were damaged by tornado/twister and water spout.
There was street flooding in a number of suburbs, like Erskineville, where stormwater drains struggled to cope with the overflow of storm water. Traffic is still in confusion across Sydney as heavy rain continues to cause flash flooding and road closures in various parts of the city.
