Australia will be shipping thousands of tonnes of toxic waste for disposal to Denmark, as Australia doesn’t have the technology to do so. Australia lacks the proper technology to deal with 10,000 tonnes of Hexachlorobenzene or HCB, which is produced as a result of manufacturing of chemical products and explosives. The toxic waste has been stored between residential area and the Sydney Airport, the result of chemical and explosives production between 1963 -1991.
Kommunekemi, the company that will treat the toxic in Central Denmark which is owned by Swedish-based investment fund EQT, welcomed the decision that will generate $A9.54 million in contract.
