Another Australian soldier serving in the Afghanistan has been killed. Private Nathan Bewes from Brisbane based 6th Battalion; The Royal Australian Regiment was killed just before midnight on Friday when home made bomb exploded during his on foot patrol with his fellow soldiers in the Chora Valley region of Uruzgan Province in Afghanistan.
His mate from the same patrol team who suffered minor injuries has been treated and he is now in stable condition in hospital at Tarin Kowt. Private Bewes, 23 year-old digger was originally from Kogarah, a southern suburb in Sydney, New South Wales. He is the 17th Australian soldier to be killed in Afghanistan since 2001. He was serving in the First Mentoring Taskforce when the explosive device exploded and was flown to the hospital in Tarin Kowt, but died when arrived at the hospital.
