Good news: Finally 100% Australian, something to hear, read and see about that will lift up the spirit of Australian soldiers. Australian Defence Force will be receiving Australian made Defence Force Uniforms. The contracts worth about AUD $30 million have been signed with TE Party Limited, Victoria based Australian Defence Apparel Company. Local jobs for local people with Australian dollars remaining in Australia with the quality product plus regular instant supply to the defence force.
Initially 200,000 new uniforms will be made here in Australia with locally made fabric. For the security purpose defence uniform should be made in Australia. Just like other small arms, ammunition and explosives are made in Australia, uniforms and other basic defence items should also be made in Australia not just for security purpose but for the continual supply so there will be no delays in shipping or import if there was a need to mobilise or increase the size and number of Australian Defence Force.
If Australia relies on foreign countries for their defence supply and if we are at hostile relationship with that particular nation we will surely have to face shortage and difficulties and we will be on disadvantage side. So, to avoid future problems even in the areas of our defence’s basic needs and supply we should look for suppliers domestically for reliability and maintain it domestically.
Australian soldiers are protecting Australia and Australian interest with their lives and asking them to wear foreign made uniforms is bit hypocritical on our side. Australia should fully support Australian soldiers in every point including the uniform that they wear should be made in Australia. Australian Defence Force is made in Australia, so why not our soldiers uniform be made in Australia?
