Australian soldier Private Bewes mourned and farewelled in Murwillumbah NSW

Nathan Bewes, 23-year-old Australian soldier was farewelled by friends, families and mates in Murwillumbah, northern New South Wales. Private Bewes was killed by a road side bombing in Afghanistan while on foot patrol in the Chora Valley region of Oruzgan Province on July 9.
Digger Nathan Bewes who was born in Kogarah, NSW joined the army cadets when he was 13 and joined the army later in 2005. Private Bewes who served in East Timor in 2006 was on his second deployment in Afghanistan. Private Bewes is the 17th Australian soldier and the sixth one to die within months in Afghanistan.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard and the Opposition Leader Tony Abbot suspended their election campaign for today and joined hundreds of mourners, friends, family, mates and well wisher to farewell the fallen digger.
